In his 30-plus years practicing law after earning a J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, Leichty’s work has focused on plaintiff’s civil litigation, assisting clients seeking remedies for federal, state and local government misconduct; remedies for insurer bad faith; immigration remedies; and protecting freedom of speech and religion guaranteed by the First Amendment. He holds an M.A. from the University of Chicago Divinity School and a B.A. from Goshen College in Indiana.
Attorney Leichty is licensed in California and in all federal courts in that state, and has been admitted to practice before federal courts of appeal for the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 9th circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Attorney Charlotte Dennett has joined the Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry
The Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry is pleased and proud to announce that Attorney Charlotte Dennett has joined our Board of Directors.
An accomplished author and investigative journalist as well as a lawyer, Dennett is the author of The People v. Bush: One Lawyer’s Campaign to Bring the President to Justice which chronicles her campaign for Attorney General of Vermont on a pledge if elected to prosecute President George W. Bush for sending U.S. troops to Iraq based on a lie. A former reporter in the Middle East identified by Time magazine as an “expert in resources-based politics”, her most recent book, The Crash of Flight 3804: A Lost Spy, A Daughter’s Quest, and the Deadly Politics of the Great Game for Oil (2020), investigates her father’s mysterious death in 1947 following his top secret mission to Saudi Arabia to determine the route for the Trans-Arabian Pipeline. Based in part on declassified documents from lawsuits against the CIA, it reveals how feverish competition among intelligence networks, military, and Big Oil interests have fueled indiscriminate attacks and targeted killings that continue to this day and have contributed to the endless wars plaguing the Middle East. Dennett also co-authored with Gerard Colby Thy Will be Done. The Conquest of the Amazon: Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the Age of Oil.[1995) that has been called an anatomy of conquest. As a Gold Star Daughter, Charlotte identifies with the 9/11 families and is determined to uncover the truth about and gain accountability for the events of Sept. 11th.
